My name is Elaine Brown and I started pressing flowers over 20
years ago.  It actually started when I saw a small white card with
some pressed violas on the front covered with Contact Paper.  I
thought it was a wonderful way of making flowers and plant
material live on for ever.  Over the years, I have made many
pressed flower pictures which I have either given to friends or sold.
A favourite picture of mine is
the one on the right  in a fan
shaped frame.  It was a
challenge coming up with a
design that would compliment
the frame.  I find often the
frames give me the greatest
inspiration for a picture.

The Swan picture on the right
was one of the  first I ever
made and is almost entirely
made from Dusty Miller.  An
autumn leaf was used to make
the beak.

The picture beneath the swan I
call my Posy Arrangement.  It
consists of pansies, pink and
purple larkspur, rose leaves,
verbena and lobelia.  I used a
real ribbon to give it an
authentic look.
Here are a few great pressed
flower links that I know you
will love.
To the right  is a picture that I
made some time ago of a bird's
head.  This was certainly a
challenge and I tried to use the
leaves as if I were painting,  by
turning them from back to front to
get different kinds of shading.  The
leaves I used for most of the head
were sumach leaves.
